Layout all your parts

Prepare PCB

Cover

(If present) Remove tabs on side of board with side cuts.

(If present) If small tabs still exist, you may have to sand them down with a file.

Edges of board should be smooth.

Remove protective coverings from both connectors.

Prepare MagGear

Cover

Place maggear large side down.

Cover

Press small bearing onto maggear small size.

Cover

Flip maggear over.

Cover

Press magnet into opening in maggear. The magnet should be flush with the surface. Magnetic orientation of the magnet does not matter.

Prepare Case Top

Place top case flat on table with opening facing facing toward you.

Press large bearing into top cavity on top case.

Cover

Once the side with the 4 dots is facing you, and the side with 1 dot is facing away from you, press the hexgear into the bearing.

Align the two gears, and press the maggear into the slot.

Place PCB in Top Case

Cover

Place the PCB into the top case assembly, connector side down.

Program Board

ONCE PROGRAMMED, THE PCB AND CASE CANNOT BE SEPERATED or calibration is lost.

Layout programming materials.

Power on encoder programming box using 12V barrel jack. Switch Power switch on the box to "ON". The "ON" LED should light green, and the 4 status LEDs on the right should be flashing in a circle pattern.

With the "zero" line on the hexgear facing upwards, place the PCB+Case assembly onto programmer.

Press down on the Encoder so that it makes connection with the contacts - the encoder should light up green, and the 4 status LEDs should all flash at once repeatedly.

Press the button. the hex shaft should spin left 90 degrees, then right 90 degrees.

Both the "Prog" and "Test" LEDs should light up green. If either fail, do not continue assembly. Please bag w/ issues written down, and pass on to Engineering (Jon).

Prepare Bottom Case

Gently press second large bearing into bottom case.

Place Bottom Case on Top Case Assembly

Cover

Place the bottom case onto the top case assembly. Press the 2 halves together.

Insert and hand tighten all 4 screws until the case is fully closed.

Verify Case is Fully Closed

Cover

Verify that the case is fully closed. The gap shown above is BAD.

Once there are no gaps present, test spin the encoder by hand. If it feels crunch, slightly loosen all 4 screws and guarantee the case is still fully pressed together.

Attach Sticker

Lay encoder down flat with the nut pockets facing up.

Cover

Place the sticker on the encoder as centered as possible, and no sticker hanging over the sides. Do not use "CAN" sticker for non-CAN device.

Fill Box

Layout all parts. (IGNORE THE CAN CABLE)

Build box.

Sometimes it can be helpful to push the wires to the bottom ½ of the bag so they can be folded in half.

Place all wires on top of one another.

Cover

Place all wires into assembled box.

Cover

Place encoder and hex adapter on top of wires in assembled box.

Cover

Close box and seal with clear round sticker. May need to add additional packing tape to keep box closed.

Flip box upside down and place OPS sticker in opening as shown.
